Year of 2015!

The year of 2015 has been devoted to raising awareness and funds for Kidney Research UK. Friends and family will know this but 3 years ago at the age of 20, my girlfriend, Amy, was admitted to hospital, feeling generally unwell. Upon completion of many different tests, she was diagnosed with a form of kidney disease called FSGS - a condition in which very little research has been completed. Her condition, despite numerous treatments, has been unable to be cured resulting in her kidney function slowly dropping over the past 3 years and it is hard not to think that, if funding had been available to complete research in this field, this would not be the case for Amy or many others with similar conditions.

Amy is now awaiting a kidney transplant as a result of FSGS, however I am trying to raise money and awareness to hopefully, prevent more people like her in the future having to go through the hard times that she has by challenging myself and raising awareness.

This blog is a way of keeping track of and reflecting on my personal training and achievements whilst also reflecting on the charitiable achievements along the way in the year in which, touch-wood, is Amy's transplant!
